POLAR TECHNOLOGY

FAC FEATURED MEMBER

Polar Technology are an engineering and manufacturing business operating at the leading edge of composite and metallic technology. They offer enabling, durable and lightweight solutions that are ideally suited for critical, demanding applications and that address complex global challenges.

Polar Technology have continued to grow their share in the Aerospace and Defence markets in the last twelve months, announcing a new partnership with ISTEC to manufacture helicopter weapon mounts, and receiving supplier awards from both BAE Systems and MBDA, which is testament to their continued commitment to achieving the highest standards of quality and delivery.

Alongside these important commercial milestones, Polar Technology also continue to prioritise developing new and innovative products that solve tomorrow’s problems.

Polar are close to producing their first iteration of hydrogen storage cylinders for use in UAV applications, having completed the winding process on their new, state-of-the-art filament winding machine, with the vessels also successfully passing a 11,000 cycle fatigue test. These cylinders will have market leading gravimetric efficiency, with dramatic implications for UAV range and performance.

Similarly, the end of February marked the conclusion of the Leading-Edge Electro-Forms (LEEF) project, an Innovate-UK funded collaboration between Polar Technology and Ultima Forma to develop and validate an electro-formed protection layer that significantly improves the capacity of composite structures to withstand erosion, impact and corrosion.

Finally, you can speak to members of the Polar Technology team at various different exhibitions this year. They will be exhibiting at DPRTE at the Farnborough International Exhibition and Conference Centre on the 25th-26th March, at Stand M15, whilst they will also be exhibiting at the Farnborough International Airshow on the 20th-24th July.
