SC21 is an industry change programme designed to accelerate the competitiveness of the aerospace and defence industry by raising the performance of its supply chains - a national strategy executed regionally.

Introduction

21st Century Supply Chains (SC21) is an industrial change programme, developed by the UK Aerospace and Defence industry, to accelerate competitiveness within the Global marketplace. Its implementation and take up will be vital to the on-going success of the industry within the UK. UK Aerospace and Defence companies are currently facing unprecedented pressures from:

  • Globalisation of Aerospace and Defence supply chain
  • Increased customer requirements
  • Pressures of Defence Industrial Strategy
SC21 presents a set of improvement and relationship principles that have been developed and adopted by a rapidly growing number of businesses in the UK Aerospace and Defence industry. It provides a framework for improving the effectiveness of supply chains, and recognises that supply chains form and reform depending on the industry, programme or platform requirements.

Fundamentally, SC21 is designed to transform and accelerate the competitiveness of the UK Aerospace and Defence industry which will help it to sustain and grow. Chief Executive Officers from companies such as BAE Systems, Ultra Electronics, Smiths Aerospace and Thales etc. have signed their commitment to transform their supply chains to be the “Supply Chain for the 21st Century”.

SC21 has seen growth and success and the HjW Advisory Services Ltd who is the official SC21 delivery agent for FAC has seen some seventeen of its clients receive awards one of which was the first gold for any company in the program. Success breeds success, the SC21 programme has seen some our clients improve their performance to customers dramatically, generally the businesses operations are in a far more efficient, and not least now bring in more work increasing turnover.
