GW MARTIN LTD

FAC FEATURED MEMBER

Founded in 1959, G W Martin is a trusted, full-service precision engineering partner, supporting customers across demanding sectors including defence, aerospace and commercial manufacturing. With more than six decades of experience, the company has built a strong reputation for reliability and flexibility, delivering consistent results on complex and high-precision components.

Operating from a 25,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility in Eastleigh, Hampshire, within their 13-acre freehold site, G W Martin offers customers a rare combination of scale and agility. The size of the site provides the space, infrastructure and long-term flexibility needed to support both local and nationwide customers, from low-volume complex components through to repeat production.

A commitment to quality and confidence

Quality and consistency sit at the heart of G W Martin’s operations. The company holds ISO 9001 accreditation, giving customers confidence that every component is produced under rigorous and repeatable quality standards. In addition, their Cyber Essentials Plus certification ensures robust cyber security practices are in place to protect customer data and supply chains.

Their environmental responsibility is equally well-embedded. G W Martin is ISO 14001 accredited, reflecting a structured and measurable commitment to reducing environmental impact across all operations. All of this is brought together in their JOSCAR and JOSCAR Net Zero certification.

Engineering with sustainability in mind

With sustainability a core operational priority, G W Martin has invested significantly in on-site solar power generation, installing a 240kW system that produces over 170,000 kWh annually. This provides over 30% of their total electricity requirements, while the remainder is sourced from 100% renewable suppliers, meaning the business operates on net-zero electricity.

Alongside energy efficiency, the company actively strives to minimise waste, maximise material reuse and recycle over 90% of all waste, ensuring responsible manufacturing practices are embedded throughout the organisation.

Investing in automation and advanced capabilities

To meet evolving customer requirements and remain competitive in high-precision sectors, G W Martin continues to invest heavily in automation and advanced machining technology. Their modern factory includes high-performance equipment, of which a recent addition is their MAZAK 250MSY, featuring SmoothG CNC control and robot loader, enabling increased throughput, consistency and lights-out manufacturing capability.

This ongoing investment ensures customers benefit from improved efficiency, reduced lead times and repeatable precision, even on complex, multi-axis components.

Building the next generation

Looking beyond today’s production needs, G W Martin is deeply committed to supporting and developing the next generation of engineers. Through structured apprenticeships and training programmes, the company actively invests in skills development and long-term workforce sustainability.

A strong addition to the Consortium

As a new member of the Farnborough Aerospace Consortium, G W Martin brings decades of engineering expertise, a strong sustainability ethos and a forward-thinking approach to automation and skills development. Their values and capabilities align closely with the Consortium’s mission to support innovation, collaboration and excellence across the aerospace supply chain.
