Objectives of the group

The Defence Industry Strategy White Paper has highlighted the need for the SMEs to become increasingly involved in the process, recognising that a significant part of the country’s manufacturing capability, experience and technical resource is retained within the SMEs.

The aim of the FAC Defence Sector is to ensure a sustainable industrial base is retained and promoted from within the FAC region, ensuring that the right skills, capabilities, capacity, intellectual and technical abilities are maintained thus demonstrating that the FAC Defence Sector is committed to providing our Armed Forces with the equipment required on time and at the best value for money.

The Defence sector will provide to Government and Primes alike, the opportunity to source directly from an experienced technical base of companies that are able to act as a single unit, reducing the need for multiple purchase orders and contracts.

Background to sector group

The FAC Defence Sector has been created to raise the profile of the SMEs within the FAC region (South East England) promoting their significant abilities, capabilities and the technical know-how of those companies with the ultimate goal of providing a viable alternative to current sourcing solutions.
