New European Aerospace Park and Cluster

The Southern Group Business Advisors (SGBA) are working in conjunction with Vaucluse Developpement, and actively promoting the investment in a new Aerospace Park, based alongside Avignon Airport. Ideally located to serve France, Italy, Spain and Switzerland the park will become the third largest Aerospace hub in France, after Toulouse and Paris. The region has the 2nd highest GDP per capita in France (after Paris), and France ranks 3rd worldwide in terms of hourly productivity (behind Norway and the US), well ahead of Great Britain and Germany.  Source : BIT 2007

Active Clusters include Pole Pegase. The region has 75,000 employees in Aerospace working for 8 industry leading companies and SME's, all supported by Academia and 31 R&D test centres.

Companies wishing to develop European business that would like to hear more about the project, and how they can benefit from the opportunity and incentives, please contact Ian Thomas at SGBA. Try

Context
As discussed at the pre-AdESAB meeting in September, there are changes to UKTI's business planning process this year. UKTI sector teams have, following consultation, produced the attached guidance sheet showing strategic priorities for international trade and investment for the UK advanced engineering the sector. If you are proposing to organise international activities for the advanced engineering sector in the next financial year that support these priorities and want to have involvement and support from our teams overseas, in the Embassies and Consulates, or the Advanced Engineering Sector national team, based in the UK, you should get engaged in this business planning process now.

If your ideas are not specific to any market, or group of markets, or you simply want to run then past us in the national sector team please contact Neil on +44 (0)141 228 3614 who leads on aerospace, Ian on +44 (0)141 228 3654 for automotive, construction equipment and mining or Janet on +44 (0)141 228 3617 - she leads on the rest of engineering including manufacturing technologies etc. Please copy us all in if you are emailing and are unclear or the idea is cross cutting.
